The mountains are filled with unexpected twists, turns, and rhythms, and the mid-flexing K2 Instrument thrives on the unpredictability that the mountain brings. This new directional model from K2 features a traditional camber line and utilizes our Volume Shift™ design to add just the right amount of width to the board for carving trenches on groomers without reducing responsiveness. We utilize our Tweekend™ design philosophy in the nose of the board to make floating through powder fields feel like a dream, and the Instrument’s ultra-durable S1 core is lightweight, sustainably harvested, and is backed by an industry leading five year warranty against breakage. Carbon Torque Forks extend out from the binding inserts to the edges of the snowboard for responsive power transfer for maneuvering through tricky terrain, and the core and all its tech is hugged in ICG™ 10 Biax Fiberglass that has been infused with tip-to-tail carbon stringers for predictable edge tracking and hold on hard snow. To top it off, we use a fast and resilient Sintered 4000 Base and on the K2 Instrument that soaks up wax and provides the multi-season durability that’ll have you playing the mountain like a fiddle.

Directional - The Directional Shape increases float and stability at speed. Directional is the classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow, and control to rip any terrain and condition.Perfect for freeriding and carving on piste
Volume Shift™ – Volume is moved from the tips and tails to underfoot for a wider, shorter design than traditional snowboard shapes, increasing mobility and maneuverability for better slashing and more lines through the
Biaxial Glass – Smooth all-purpose performance with a no-frills design. Fibers are woven together at 0°and 90°. This makes for a more responsive ride longitudinally and torsionally.
Carbon Torque Forks - Adding carbon that extends from the inserts to the contact point allows for an extra responsive and stable ride.
Core : S1 Core – The smooth-flexing cousin to the A1 core, K2's new S1 core in designed to be damp underfoot and stronger than hell. Constructed from bamboo, aspen, and paulownia, the S1 core lets each wood do what it's best for. Tip-to-tail bamboo stringers add snap, durability, and dampening underfoot, and are balanced out by lightweight paulownia in the midbody, tip, and tail to help reduce swing weight. Underfoot, aspen and bamboo are placed at 30° angles to increase strength, supercharge edge-to-edge response, and increase pressure distribution along the edge.
Sidewalls : Hybritech™ – Hybritech™ is the most efficient way to make a snowboard without sacrificing one ounce of performance. Featuring sidewalls along the running surface that flow into the nose and tail, providing low swing-weight while extending the wood core all the way to the tip of the board for optimized turning initiation and durability.
Flex : Flex Rating – Medium 7 (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - A medium flex ensures precise response, yet with enough flex to butter and jib.
