The best ingredients mixed together don’t always give us gold. But they do in this case. The ORO QV MIPS has a QuattroVarioflex lens, which sets a new standard in terms of comfort thanks to the interlocking translation rotation mechanism (TRM). In conjunction with the additional MIPS safety feature, this results in a special helmet: a visor helmet for maximum comfort, enhanced safety and optimum visibility on the piste. This makes every day of skiing a golden day.
DETAILS
Best for : ski - Snowboard - snowsports.
Gender : Men's
Construction : Hard shell helmets - consist of a Hi-EPS core and an impact-resistant outer shell made of ABS or polycarbonate. This combination ensures maximum safety.
Hi-EPS - The inner shell of all Alpina helmets is made of Hi-EPS (High Expanded Polystyrene). The material has microscopically small air chambers that absorb the forces acting on the helmet in the event of an impact. Hi-EPS provides optimum protection and at the same time allows for extra-thin helmet wall as well as narrow helmet shapes.
Ceramic shell : All Alpina helmets manufactured using the inmold process are fitted with a robust ceramic shell. A polycarbonate plate is stretched under intense heat onto the shape of the helmet in the making and pressed onto the Hi-EPS body under high pressure and thermally bonded to it. The Ceramic shell is characterized by several qualities: It is impact- and scratch-resistant, UV-stable and antistatic.
MIPS:
the low-friction layer allows the helmet to slide in relation to the
head and adds protection in helmets against rotational movement. This
technology ensures optimal protection.
Certification : ASTM F2040 – (EN1077:2007).
UV Protection: 100% UV A - B - C protection.
Protection : UV 400 nm.
Weather : Cloudy, overcast, sunny
Transmission S2 ( 18%-43% ) S3 (8%-18%)
What percentage of visible light passes through the lense, a higher
percentage is perfect for low light conditions and a lower percentage is
better for sunny days.
Lens :Quattroflex is the term
for a specially coloured lens in ruby red, which reduces the proportion
of blue in visible light. This increases contrasts in the snow, allowing
surroundings to be perceived better and more quickly. Thanks to the
lens’s brightening effect, the contours and textures of the piste can be
perceived better even in poor weather conditions. A polarisation film
of highest optical quality built into the lens completes the Quattroflex
effect: Distracting scattered light and glares are filtered out and the
contrast is also enhanced. Reflections and mirroring are minimised,
which allows icy surfaces and dangerous situations to be seen much
better.
Varioflex makes the glass tint automatically. The
photochromatic (self-tinting) lens automatically reacts to visible light
and darkens in a matter of seconds or brightens if it’s getting darker.
Hicon - Hicon is the name for a certain orange tint of the lens.
This colouring has the property of significantly increasing contrasts.
This makes the view clearer and better, which increases safety on the
way down. The effect is particularly helpful in diffuse lighting
conditions such as fog or snowfall.
Doubleflex - Long-lasting fog resistance and lenses do not freeze thanks to double lens in conjunction with fogstop coating
Mirror
- Mirror is a lens on which multiple reflective layers are applied.
They provide protection from harsh glares and infrared light. Mirror is
not only the feature of a highly functional lens, it’s an element of
style.
Lens Colour : Ice Blue mirror
Polarized :
Yes Glasses with polarised technology have polarising lenses. This
means they filter light and only let direct rays of sun through. As a
result, distracting reflections and glares are blocked and do not reach
the eyes. This makes these glasses an outstanding choice for types of
sport in and on the water.
Photochromic: Yes Varioflex makes the glass tint automatically. The photochromatic (self-tinting) lens automatically reacts to visible light and darkens in a matter of seconds or brightens if it’s getting darker.
Ventilation : Yes
Venting adjustable : Airstream Control - Air vents at the top of the helmet can be opened and closed using the Airstream Control mechanism. The air flow can thus be regulated and adapted to the weather conditions. This ensures perfect air conditioning inside the helmet at all times.
Head Phones (MP3-IPOD-Mobile): No
Goggle system : TRM - The “translatory-rotatory-mechanism” (TRM) seals the visor particularly close to the face. The mechanism allows the visor to rotate from the upper to the lower position. In the lower position, a linear movement (translation) ensures that the visor can be moved towards the eyes. This creates a compact fit of the helmet on the head.
Insulation: Lavalan® is a washable insulation material made of
sheep wool, used as a padding in ALPINA ski helmets to provide extra
comfort. The sustainably obtained lavalan® wool has both insulating and
temperature-regulating properties, is breathable and prevents unpleasant
sweat odours from forming thanks to the wool’s natural moisture
management and the self-cleaning function of the wool fibres. European
wool is exclusively used for production, the short production routes for
which allow us to monitor animal welfare.
Interior removable : Yes
Earpads Removable : Yes EARPADS REMOVABLE
Fit adjustable : Yes Run System Ergo Snow - The Run System enables all Alpina helmets to adjust to a custom size by using an easy-to-move dial. Alpina relies on the tried-and-tested Run System Classic for its ski helmets, a flexible head adjustment system with a central dial. A twist mechanism allows the headband to be adjusted more loosely or more tightly. The large dial is equipped with a non-slip two-component mix and can be operated perfectly with ski gloves.
Weight in grams : 710 grams
Features : Deep neck warmer - Highly comfortable and pleasant climate due to long neck warmer made of soft microfleece
Edge Protect - The lower edge of the helmet is protected by the polycarbonate shell Edge Protect
More details : Ergomatic - Proven a hundred thousand times over and used on all Alpina helmets: the strap buckle with the red push button and multi-step automatic locking mechanism. Ergomatic can be operated with one hand - you can loosen the strap on the way up the mountain and tighten it for downhill - and in a fall the locking mechanism cannot open automatically.
